Medical Shows

I have a ten year old sister, and for those of you who are curious, she was kind of a surprise. Or as my mom likes to say, a “little miracle.” She was born my senior year of high school, which also makes her a great way to track my age. Awesome. Anyway, she has said from essentially the day she was born that she is going to be a doctor. I feel like this probably explains the fact that she is completely enamored with any show on television that depicts any of the following: near death experiences, the birth of a baby (complete with as many of the gory details as possible), or any show that takes place in an Emergency Room and contains copious amounts of blood. We watch these shows together on Toledo Directv and she laughs at me while I squirm and beg to change the channel. Her favorite pastime is warning me to cover my eyes because “this is going to be gross.” It never ceases to amaze me how little any of these things bother her. We tried for a while to convince her that these shows were a little mature for her, but hey…Doctors make a lot of money. I don’t want to rain on her parade.
