It is obvious, but, I would like to point out that this blog is powered by the WordPress Content Management System (CMS). To combat comment spam, WordPress, by default, makes the links from comments nofollow links. This devalues the link for spamming purposes, but also penalizes people that leave legitimate, and valuable comments and contributions to discussions. The KeywordLuv and DoFollow plugins overcome this limitation and allow links back to your website to be DoFollow when you leave comments on this site.
Commenting has long been recognized as a good way to get one-way backlinks. The problem has been that, like so many other things in life, it has been abused. No one likes their site to be a platform for someone’s spam. Spammers have abused this source of backlinking to the point were no-follow attribute has been a well used defense mechanism for combating spam. The DoFollow plugin allows you to score a backlink to your site by leaving a comment on this site. Keep in mind that comments on this site are manually moderated and spam will not be allowed. If you comment on a post here, please try to add value to the original article. While the comment does not have to be extensive, short comments that do not add value to the post and/or other comments on the post will be rejected. “Great Post” or “I agree completely” won’t cut it.
Not only does commenting on this site gain you a backlink, I also use the KeywordLuv plugin. KeywordLuv allows your backlink to have the added value of embedded keywords in the anchor text. If you want keywords in your anchor text use this format in the name field of the comment form; Your Name@keyword. For example, if you enter
D. Morgan Henley@WordPress For Small Business in the comment name field, the link will look like this; D. Morgan Henley WordPress For Small Business
Search engines, Google in particular, will give your link a bit of extra merit if the anchor text is highly relevant to the target of the link. So, KeywordLuv gives you the option of getting this extra boost.

I just wanted to say thank you for writing this. I have been reading up about backlinking and your blog came up. It seems it has been greatly abused which is sad. A few always ruin it for the majority. Thanks.
It is very difficult starting out and building up your backlinks. It is a shame that spammers were the main cause of the creation of nofollow links, as it makes search engine optimization that much harder. Of course I also understand the necessity to combat spam.
I greatly appreciate the plugins for DoFollow links, and believe all blogs should be educated and informed about the wonders of internet marketing and backlinks.
well..DoFollow blogs are completely essential to increase backlinks and I appreciate DoFollow links coz it makes my work easier. I do blogging often but I always make sure that I leave sensible comments to the blogs I visit.
I think its great that wordpress has a nofollow on their system as a standard, but nice to have sites with dofollow
NoFollow links do have a place in the big picture. It is nice to have the option to grade comments on a case by case basis, and to have the ability to reward contributors.
